Position Summary
The Credit Account Specialist will promptly and efficiently analyze and collect account balances, which are due within an assigned territory, with the goal of reducing Average Days Receivable ( ADR ) and avoid Bad Debt write-offs while maintaining customer relationships. This individual will also review their assigned accounts, to determine if the orders should be released following the guidelines set by Apogee Manager, Credit. The Credit Account Specialist will assist the Credit Account Supervisor on answering credit reference inquiries, pertaining to his/her assigned accounts, within the guidelines prescribed by the National Association of Credit Management (NACM) .
Responsibilities
- Contact accounts as assigned following strategies and guidelines dictated by policy and as directed by the Credit Account Supervisor and Manager, Credit.
- Answer credit reference inquiries.
- Verify customer account balances.
- Assist help resolve disputes, deducts and charge-backs.
- Email copies of invoices or other supporting documents as requested by customers or management.
- Report on the status of assigned accounts in past-due meetings with the Credit Account Supervisor and others that may attend.
- Apprise Credit Account Supervisor and Manager of Credit of any difficult collection matters or those that may require special handling.
- As provided recommend accounts for adverse action such as intents to lien, lien filing, and collections.
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Required:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent required;
Preferred:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Two years’ work experience in accounting or related field.
- Good organizational and communication skills; both oral and written.
- Ability to interact with people under demanding circumstances.
- Ability to read, write and understand work instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member.
- Ability to take supervision.
- Working knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Possesses basic math skills.
- Ability to work with a customer service mindset.
