The Apogee Performance Surfaces segment has grown from $100M to $200M in revenue through a recent acquisition. Position Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides strategic, proactive, and tactical HR support to all levels of the business. They partner closely with leadership and operations to understand the business and workforce to drive successful outcomes. This role acts as a dynamic change agent who owns their site and partners closely with site leadership, while also collaborating with and participating in a larger HR team. The HRBP serves as a point of contact for all HR matters, offers guidance on employee relations, develops and leads employee engagement initiatives, enriches company culture, identifies opportunities to support business strategy, and more. They pioneer development of processes and approaches to meet employee and leadership needs. The HRBP has a direct hand in shaping their site and strengthening the company’s reputation as an employer of choice.
This is a fully in office position with occasional travel required.
Responsibilities
- Business Results
- Partner closely with leaders to drive business performance by developing and executing effective people strategies and labor management.
- Stay visible through plant floor walks and maintain an open-door policy.
- Support organizational change, ensure strong workforce and succession planning, and help leaders align talent decisions with business goals to achieve measurable results.
- Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, & Offboarding
- Partner with leaders to create accurate job descriptions ensuring alignment with headcount, budget, and organizational needs.
- Create job requisitions and work closely with Recruiting Team to ensure all hiring activities are compliant with company policies and Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) requirements.
- Lead an effective new hire onboarding/orientation program.
- Coordinate and facilitate the offboarding process, including exit interviews, system and equipment recovery, communication with relevant departments, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary contact for leaders and employees regarding all HR matters such as payroll, policies, and benefits, while balancing the needs of the business and being a champion for employees.
- Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations when needed.
- Partner with leaders to assist with personnel matters, including but not limited to progressive discipline, leave management, the performance evaluation processes, etc
- Objectively coach team members and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
- Enhance and maintain employee engagement to cultivate a high-performance, loyal, communicative, and collaborative workforce that directly contributes to business growth
- Human Resource Process
- Facilitate employee training as required by Apogee’s Learning & Development Team and act as the liaison for training content.
- Review timecards, track payroll items, and work closely with Apogee’s Payroll Team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with HR procedures such as maintaining accurate personnel files, conducting regular audits, and legal compliance.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze metrics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and provide actionable insights.
- Maintain working knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Assist with compliance items such as drug screening, workers compensation, and unemployment.

Personal Attributes and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred.
- At least 5 years’ broad HR experience including employee relations, benefits administration, staffing, and payroll.
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Skills to investigate, assess, and resolve problems while maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong customer service orientation, positive approach, and professional image.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management, documentation, and organizational skills, with ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated and ability to work as a team in a collaborative environment as well as individually.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural workplace and support diversity and inclusion.
- Software proficiency to include Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and HR Information Systems. Workday experience preferred.
Work Environment
This job is primarily performed in an office environment. The noise level in the office is generally moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently interacts with individuals on the plant floor, near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.
