Position Summary
The Architectural Sales Representative is responsible for driving profitable growth, expanding market presence, and strengthening customer relationships across an assigned territory while supporting multiple Architectural Metals brands and solutions.
This role partners closely with architects, glazing contractors, general contractors, distributors, owners, and other key influencers throughout the project lifecycle to position Architectural Metals products and services early in the design and specification process.
The position plays a critical role in identifying new business opportunities, supporting strategic accounts, influencing specifications, and delivering a strong customer experience through collaboration with internal engineering, estimating, operations, and customer support teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Territory Growth & Business Development:
- Work with Regional Sales Manager to develop and execute territory plans aligned with regional growth objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue project opportunities and leads across assigned markets and customer segments.
- Drive specification activity and increase brand presence within the architectural and construction community.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, owners, glazing contractors, distributors, and strategic partners.
- Identify competitive opportunities and market trends to support growth initiatives.
- Customer & Project Engagement:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Guide architects and customers through product selection, system capabilities, and application solutions.
- Conduct presentations, lunch-and-learns, and AIA-accredited educational sessions.
- Collaborate with customers to identify solutions that align with project goals, budgets, and performance requirements.
- Support customer issue resolution and ensure a high level of responsiveness and follow-through.
- Commercial & Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Partner closely with internal Estimating, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Customer Service to support successful project execution.
- Provide voice-of-customer and market feedback to internal stakeholders.
- Support forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM activity expectations.
- Ensure commercial commitments align with operational capabilities and customer expectations
- Sales Process & Market Presence:
- Maintain active project pipelines and territory activity within CRM tools.
- Represent Architectural Metals brands professionally at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of products, systems, market applications, and competitive landscape.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to sales effectiveness, customer experience, and territory performance.
Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of sales, specification, architectural, construction, or related building products experience preferred.
- Experiences within glazing, fenestration, aluminum systems, architectural products, or commercial construction environments strongly preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong business acumen and customer focus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
Work Environment/Travel Requirements
- This role is field and office based with frequent customer interaction and travel throughout the assigned territory.
- The role requires:
- Frequent travel within the territory, including customer visits, construction sites, and industry events
- Ability to operate within office, manufacturing, and active construction environments using appropriate PPE.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, driving, computer use, and virtual meetings.
- Occasional lifting of product samples and materials up to 25 lbs.
